Default X-fi Xtreme music MIDI?

RIght about to buy the X-fi Xtrememusic, and I was wondering about the MIDI on it..at least it LOOKS like it has MIDI, can someone make the difference clear for me? and if so, what is a cable I can get to connect it to my MIDI piano? I know what the piano needs, but the connector on the sound card looks foreign..

I don't know how the MIDI would work without the front panel. I have used my MIDI keyboard with my X-Fi but the only MIDI plug I know about is the one on the panel.

But if you have the panel, it has the small MIDI plugs right there (it comes with adaptors to regular size MIDI plugs).

That large serial-like port on the card is MIDI isn't it?

I'm used to seeing the round MIDI ports such as these...

I don't believe that the gameport on the back of the card can be used with MIDI - it's for connecting the external breakout box.

I know what you're thinking - damn Creative and their proprietary interfaces!

It's old school MIDI DA-15, see on a lot of "vintage" products. Though... from what I understand, it's questionable as reliable in Windows Vista not sure about the front I/O console one though.

Are you SURE it's DA-15? I checked this, and the gameport on the back has 3 rows of pins http://images.soundblaster.com/image...sic_pdt_lo.jpg THank you for the hotfix though, I may end upo having to buy the dumb front panel to use MIDI.

WHOA THAT'S DA-26, I do believe! I haven't actually seen one, I've only heard about them, they aren't reverse capable with DA15 to my knowledge. Sorry for the bad information =(
