you would need a power amp fro those tsi 500's, i would just grab the onkyo 705 and get an amp with the rest of the money.

Sorry, Im a noob when it comes to this stuff (not afraid to admit it, but Im learning).

Why would I need a powered amplifier for the TSi500s? Required amplifier power for the TSi500s is 20-275w and the Yamaha receiver puts out 70w per channel and the onkyo puts out 100w per channel.

they are rated 100watt/ch in 2 ch setup, in 5. 1 you you are barely getting 50w/ch. if you want 5.1 or 7.1 you will need an amp to unleash the power of those tsi500's

Well, Im not going to be pushing them very hard at first. I live in a dorm room, so I kinda have to keep the noise level down. Plus my room isnt that big. However, when I move back home, I will push them a little harder.

Im a little hesitant to get an Onkyo receiver, but only because the RX-663 is $265 through work.

Well, I just ordered the Yamaha receiver.

Couldnt place the order for the PolkAudio speakers because the bank was closed today and I needed to deposit the money to pay for them.

Anywho, I'll post pictures when they come. I was in BBY today and took a look at them and the sub. They looked better when I saw them in person compared to when I was looking at them on the website. Granted, they still looked great online. They are a little smaller than I thought, but the smaller size makes them more sleek and better looking I think.

Errrr,

I dont know where your getting that information from...

All you need to know is that they are 8 ohms, a fairly easy load to drive from your amp
and 91db which means they will go quite loud for minimal right hand on the volume knob!

Not much at the moment. The headphones are a ways off yet. The money I have now is going towards the receiver and speakers
