Make sure your onboard sound is disabled.

Is your power cable properly plugged in? I know with the DX at least, the power connecter is so flimsy I have to wiggle it to find a position where it works so this may be the issue. Also, as Crazy9000 said, make sure you have uninstalled all your onboard drivers first.

Make sure you are trying to install the lastest drivers for your respective version of Vista (32-bit or 64-bit). You can find the latest Xonar drivers over at Asus's Support homepage. If that doesn't work, and you still get BSOD's then it looks like you've recieved a faulty card from a bad batch and will need to RMA.

well when ahead and disabled the on board audio and anything else that had the word onboard in it.
__________________And yet I still can't get vista to detect my card. I do however, see that in the device manager there is a driver missing for the PCI/PCI-X Bridge. When I open the properties in the description is states: this device cannot find enough resources that it can use (Code 12). Could this be part of the problem. Please advise. Thanks

Please stop bumping by double posting, and try reading my last reply.
I had the exact same issues with me Xonar D2 when it arrived. It turned out I recieved a broken card and had to contact the retailer for a replacement.

You can try removing the Xonar and enabling the onboard audio, then install its drivers and see what happens. If it still doesn't work that indicates some other problem likely exists. If the onboard audio works fine, I would RMA the Xonar as indicated before. But you have to make sure the PCI/PCI-X bridge is working no matter what. That only makes sense. In your BIOS you should have a setting to reset to default or some such. This resets all BIOS settings. Then let Vista boot without the Xonar card in the computer and see if the bridge problem exists. Install the card and see if the bridge problem comes back. Back to RMA if it seems to cause the trouble.

I just tried my xonar d2x sound card on another computer with xp. And it was recognized and I was able to install all the drivers and programs.
__________________So therefore I can conclude that the problem is with not having enough resources for the particular spot on the mobo to detect my sound card. As said before the properties description states: this device cannot find enough resources that it can use (Code 12). Furthermore, I can confirm that the card is not faulty or broken. Does anyone know how I can allocate the necessary resources in order to have vista detect my sound card?

thanks for the help guys.
__________________Last night I read through some forums and posts @ asus.com and figured that my problem was with the bios. So I went over to EVGA d/l and flashed the bios and got Vista to detect the sound card. Didn't even have to disable onboard sound. Finally I can say that my rig is TOTALLY COMPLETE ![]()
