Default z-2300, Bose Companion 2, or x-540?

I'm trying to get a good budget speaker setup. Those 3 above are in my budget and I want to see which is better. What do you guys think is better out of the three?

Z2300...the X-540 aren't in the same league (they're crappier)...surround sound isn't all the important really, especially for what OCN'ers do most of the time (games and music).

Never get Bose (no reason needed really). Besides, they don't even have a sub with the companions, so also, not in the same class. Really, you have chose three very different products...what is your budget, may I ask?

depends what you do with the comp, movies, games and such i'd say the x-540s, music the z-2300, or a set of klipsch pro media 2.1 here, they're a bit more expensive, but best buy has them on sale alot for about $125

the z-2300's are extremely powerful, ive had mine for 2 or so years and they are so perfect. The only thing that can be better than it besides the 5500's is another set of them hooked up together.

Bose is actually an excellent company. I've bought a great number of products from them and have been very pleased. They deliver good sound and build quality without a huge footprint. Mind you, Mark Levinsons grace my media center, and I have a discerning ear.

Regardless, the companion 2's are unimpressive for anything other then a workstation computer. I recommend the Z2300's.

It's just their ridiculous prices for a not so impressive product. Some comapnies can pull this off very well, like McIntosh or Mark Levinsons because they deliver, but not Bose.

after finding out that my rooms to small for a 5.1 system, the z5500's were off the list so i went with the z2300's and man. killer bass, volume, and quality. highly recommend these, their totally worth their weight in gold.
