i found this refurb of the logitech z-5500's for only $150 it seemed sketchy but ****** had solid seller reviews so i came here to ask you guys to see if this seems like a good deal and if i should buy refurb?

Buy it, that's pretty cheap. I have z5500, too. And it's a great system for gaming, music.

Do you have a sound card ? You need a good sound card to see the potential of those speakers tho.

Anyway, that's a steal for the price. Best (reasonably priced) 5.1 media speaker set available, in my humble opinion.

I was quoted $27 for shipping

I have used computergeeks for years with only a few small hiccups. If they have something I need there I won't hesitate to pick it up. As far as the sound card goes if your MB has a toslink digital output why not save your money and just use that? Unless you are gaming and need the X-FI decoding.
