I have no first hand knowledge of how Vista responds to two soundcards.

However, I used to use Chaintech AV-710 for stereo out, but the mic port was total garbage, so I used my onboard realtek for mic-in. I had zero problems using them simultaneously with windows 2000 or XP.

You have to use Asio4All to do that, but you run into overload issues running so many channels. Better to just use one soundcard. Same goes with gaming.

Why do you want two outputs? Don't your speakers have a headphone jack? If you don't you can always just use an extension cord to switch between the speaker male and the headphone male.

I make music and I only use one sound card. Some times I use the line in from my Casio WK-110 some times the usb for the controller part.

Also some times the speakers headphone jack mess with the sound quailty of the headphones, depending on what headphone they are. I would never use my ultrasone HFI-780s from my Z5500 speaker pod for every day uses,But I have one time trying to see how it would sound.

The best sollution for the thread starter is really just use a 3.5mm splliter, that way you can plug both the headphones into front out and then the speakers into front out.
