Heya guys, I use my PC only for gaming and listening to music and I've been thinking about upgrading from integrated SoudMAX to something a bit more satisfying. Right now I have very old Altec Lansing speakers and I think they're on their last legs...
I don't game very loud since I live in dorms and can't put volume full blast without pissing everyone off, I just need something that sounds nice and will last me for a couple of years even after I'm out of the dorms. Everything must be from ncix.com since I have free shipping from them (Ordering a P5Q pro at the same time for a friend) I've always heard raving reviews about the Auzentech Prelude, but I'm wondering if that ain't a bit overkill for me... I'm thinking about G51 Speakers because of the nice little pod with gaming and music presets and headphones/mic ports as well as aux ports to plug my PS3 into. I have also heard good things about the HT Omega Striker and the PCI-E version of the Creative X-FI Fatality. All sugestions are welcome. Here are the Sound Cards and Speakers links of ncix for those who wanna do some searching. One more question for those who can: My friend love to play his guitar in his PC and was wondering if the Auzentech X-Plosion would give him better sound than his built-in audio? Or is there better solutions for that? Thanks for all the help!

for the price, get the ASUS xonar D1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829132007 90$ and a 25$ MIR. excellent card for the price, since if you dont listen to music all the time/game everyday, a auzentech would be a tad bit overkill. as for your speakers. the G51 are great, but they'll be way to loud. i'd say get something like Z-4's which get plenty loud, have a nice punch/boom effect. i'd actually recommend some headphones, depending on your taste, the ATH-A700/HD555/DT770 Pro 80 or the AKG k 81 DJ's

I would like a card that would give me some kind of hardware acceleration in games if possible, is that even the case anymore? It used to make a difference but my last non-onboard card was a Sound Blaster Live! so.....

Ok, I'm pretty much settled on getting the G51 now; I just wonder which card would be better. Basically I want the most stable drivers and good sound quality. I've narrowed down to the Auz Prelude, Auz X-Plosion, Creative X-Fi ExtremeGamer PCI-E, HT Omega Striker, and Asus Xonar DX PCI-E.
Any suggestions? I know the Auz is definitely the best choice, but its almost double the price as all the others.

Personally I'd say instead of the G51s, go for a nice pair of headphones, since then you'll be able to turn up the volume to your liking, and play at decent levels even while others are sleeping.
Plus it'll be less of a hassle to move them than a whole speaker set ![]()
