Default looking for a decent sound card. need opinions.

well, today was payday, so of course i cant help but upgrade something and my onboard sound from my GA-M57SLI-S4 is..well, onboard; therefore, im in need of an upgrade.

i've never owned a quality sound card, so im excited to hear the difference. quality headphones/speakers will come after.

but for now, im looking for just a sound card in the price range of $0-$75CAD

trying to keep it at a minimal cost since christmas is right around the corner and i cant go spending all of my money on myself lol.

anywho, got any ideas? preferably from NCIX.com or if any for sale threads are up that someone could link me to.

Thanks

EDIT: ended up buying the HT Omega Striker, in case you didnt notice im a bigtime impulse buyer and dont like spending too much time on finding ways to spend my money lol. thanks for posting.

At this price point, wait for the HT Omega Striker to get on sale, or get the Auzentech X-Plosion that is on sale at 69.99$ after MIR this week. Both are great cards, the Omega Striker is perhaps a bit more gaming oriented and the X-Plosion more toward Home Theater PCs.

links? im VERY bad with money, so i intended on ordering tonight lol.

i was looking at the omega striker on ncix, is it a good card? cause if shipping doesnt kill me i might pay the extra bit and buy it right now.

thoughts?

EDIT: wonderful, the omega qualifies for express shipping, so for 0.02 more cents than basic ground i can get express shipping 1-2 days. total is $117.09 shipped, worth it?

The card in my sig...

Seems like I paid $10-$20 less for it a year or so ago, but it's still awesome for a "budget" card. Even though this is HT's low end card, it's damn good.

well thats USD, and the current exchange rate is not in favor of those of us north of the border.

how well does the card perform in games? compared to your typical onboard sound that is.

Never compared it to my onboard, I just know it makes me happy. Besides, I have Bose 2.1 speakers, so considering there are tons of Bose-haters out there, I am prolly not the best person to be asking for advice there. I wish you the best of luck finding what you're looking for.
