Hey pros. Two questions.
1: I currently have a Sherwood RX-4103 receiver on my desk and I plan on buying a pair of HD555's in the very near future. I was just gonna move the receiver and the bookshelf speakers I have hooked up to it into the closet for storage and run the HD555's straight to my PC. I then saw one of the guys here on the forum selling a receiver saying it makes a great headphone amp. Would it be beneficial for me to run the HD555's with my receiver? 2: What sound card would you guys recommend to me to go with the HD555's? I am running off the stock sound right now and kinda miss my now dead Audigy 2 ZS. I play games and listen to music and such. I just don't want to buy one that isn't worth the money or is crap. Thanks guys. ![]()

yes it will help your 555's and yes the d2x would be good if you can afford it.

Sweet. thanks. I may go with the D2x. It's only $163 shipped from Provantage.

Double post but does anyone know of a good headphone stand? If I get these HD555's I don't want them just laying around and getting knocked off my desk etc all the time.

I would recommend going with the Little Dot amp that shizdan is selling , and get some tubes for it. Tube amps have great great sound. Then , rather than the Sonar DX2 , get the Auzentech Prelude, Its better. Its not the cheapest setup- but its a killer one.
Reason for the good sound card is because its the source of the audio , then with the amp , it refines the music , and then with your Senns , it will sound amazing.

Why the 555's? Have you listened to a pair? I think there are better headphones out there in that price range
The 555's are over rated in computer forums

Any specific recommendations? Comfort is a big thing for me. I have just heard the HD555's were amazing for the price and were one of the most comfortable pairs of headphones out there.
