Well with this new build, it doesn't look like I am going to have any free pci slots open to use for a soundcard. Had a few thoughts about using a X-FI pciX card but doubt that is going to happen, So i figured the next best thing is the toslink out to the Z5500's. So what am I going to be in for? Remember I am used to my av-710 digital out.

Well, it certainly will not sound any better. I imagine it might sound just a tad worse, as the Chaintech's optical output is nothing impressive either.
I only very recently learned of the differences in transports' optical output sections, and as it turns out it somehow does make a difference. My Marantz output sounded noticeably better to me than my Chaintech did. Lack of ASIO impacted this somewhat.
