Ok so, I record music for my friends band and we are just about done our first CD. I have finished mixing the final tracks and exporting them. Although I realized that some tracks where louder then others. I am looking for a good, free, program that I can use to do a batch job and normalize all the tracks to one volume level, so one track isn't too quiet then the next is really loud.
Anyone got anything for the job?

I don't think it does batch conversions or normalization. I am using Adobe Audition for what Audacity does.

Audition should do batch normalization - poke around a bit, I'm certain its there.
EDIT: Adobe's online tutorials suggest Edit > Group Waveform Normalize.

Normalization brings up the noise floor, so if it was recorded poorly, it will simply add a ton more "hiss" to the track. And if he does normalize, he will have to re-mix everything all over again. Normalization(or compression/expansion/gate) and noise reduction should be the first thing you do in post production.

Audition has a normalization function. you should be able to normalize individual tracks, by right clicking on them, I have used it in the past. Been a while. I am currently using Cakewalk Sonar 7 producer.
