Default Asus Xonar/X-Fi Sub $100

What do you guys think of the Asus Xonar cards? Newegg link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=Sound%20Cards . I really want to spend less than $100 on a sound card, so the D2X, which I know had excellent reviews, is out of the question. Would a X-Fi card be better in that price range? I spend most of my computer time listening to music, but I also spend considerable time gaming. Which card would you guys reccomend? I was looking at the Asus Xonar DX. +rep for helpful advise.

For gaming the X-FI has a slight edge due to its codecs.

However, creative drivers in vista are hobbled (Some features are not properly supported). The Asus cards have no such limitations.

For music they are both equally good.

OK, cool, thanks. I'll probably spring for the Asus. Full Vista support is more important to me than a few FPS in games.

Actually it has a slight edge due hardware acceleration. They're both good for music but not equally (Xonar has a slight advantage for me, for others has huge), even in games Xonar losses few FPS, but offers better sound (positioning for example).

That open box DX for $52 is a good deal.

I'm pretty sure that the X-Fi is no longer crippled in Vista. The only thing that was missing was Dolby and DTS decoding and it's been restored back with the latest driver from Creative.

I'm super happy with my X-Fi, but I haven't had much experience with the Xonar, although they do look like a solid product.
