I plan on getting the logitech g51's, i just can't afford the z-5500's. I was just wondering what sound card you guys would suggest for this 5.1 setup on windows xp. I was looking at the creative xtreme gamer.
Thanks

ASUS XONAR = better rep + sound quality , but slightly less fps in games.
Creative Xtremegamer = Bad rep (from me too), better fps in games than onboard. With your 8800GTS you wont even see the difference in fps. Also I hate my card, I want to get a refund but all I have been offered is replacement. I want a Xonar D1 but I'm skint. I recommend an ASUS Xonar D1 or DX from my own experience. My problems mainly consist of speaker/headphone buzzing and microphone failure or crackling in games. It is common and unstoppable. (yes I've tried youp pax drivers too). Although I cant complain about the sound, its pretty good. Also if your looking for good sound there are lots of good choices apart from logitech such as klipsch promedia speakers. Bottom line = Xtremegamer has a slight edge for more fps in games (which is very small difference), and Xonar seems to have everything else better.

The PCI Xonar D1 is also a good choice and identical to the DX apart from NOT needing a floppy power supply. It is also PCI instead of PCI-E http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=xonar%20d1
