If you have not bought yet, it is also worth taking a look at the Equation Audio RP-21. I like to think of them as everything the HD-280 is, but more refined (less brittle, and dig deeper down low).

Well unfortunately, I bought the AKG K81s assuming they were in stock, which they weren't so I'm on hold for headphones. I wish I invested in the A700s but they're a little more pricey than the AKG K81s.

I don't think it is too late to change, especially if they haven't shipped yet. You may want to call and see. But good luck whatever happens.

Just got these with an Auzentech Prelude. Went from a 30$ headset and onboard sound to this. Completely. Freaking. Amazing.

Been listening to music quite a bit and it sounds great, I did have to up the bass and treble just a tad for my liking, but other than that they're perfect (didn't even bother with the equalizer). As for gaming, I was on the second floor of a building and tossed a flash out the window. I could actually hear it hit the ground slightly behind me while walking down the hallway.

In other words, you can't go wrong at all with the ATH-A700s for all around use

Those are good i use Beyerdynamic's DT770 Pro 80ohm...You should be able to find them around $150 used or something. they are great for gaming and totally closed cant hear anything hardly from the outside and same thing when you are blasting games or music with people around you. If you dont like the Audio Technica's id say look into the Beyerdynamic's.
