Default Discuss Future Plans For Your Audio Rig

The purpose of this thread is to provide a starting point for us audio nuts to establish an basis for our setups. In this case, "future plans" is a fairly broad terminology that leaves itself open to however you wish to use it - this could be:

1) Overall outlook of your rig; the way in which all of the individual pieces form together as a unit to give you the sound you are looking for.

2) Specific components; finding an individual piece that best matches with the rest of the setup.

3) Peripheral decisions; appropriate cables, possible isolation through feet and racks, etc.

Of course, part of the idea through discussion is that fellow members can help each other out should anyone need suggestions .

I'll be the first to bite!

I'm building outriggers for my av123 ELT525T's. I wanted them to be more stable since I have two cats and a dog that like to play and chase each other around my apartment...

Basically this is what I wanted:
http://www.loudspeakerstands.com/index.html
But $240 is a bit much if you ask me...

So, I'm building my own. I've got a couple pairs of old brass speaker cones. I picked up some metal polish today to clean them up, and I picked up some metal from a local shop. Had them cut it into 12" lengths for me. So I have 4 1.5" wide by .25" thick aluminum. I took my dremel with a grinding wheel to the ends to smooth them, drilled the holes and tapped the end holes for the spikes to screw into. I just painted them and they are currently drying in my bathroom... damn I want a garage!

I'll post some pics once I finish them.

My current setup: TCA Gizmo > Yamaha A526 bookshelves

Will soon be adding a DAC. After that, probably going to save up for a set of Klipsch Heresy speakers, (hopefully this summer), then save up big time for a 3-Channel Beta22 with speaker posts, along with another pair of HD580's for headphone satisfaction (hopefully by next christmas).

So final setup will be (DAC) > Beta22 > (HD580) and (Klipsch Heresys)

My current setup is Creative X-Fi Titanium>Audioengine A2(On Auralex Iso Pads)>Sennheiser HD280PRO.

Planned Upgrades.

Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card. It has the stock LM4562 & a pair of JRC 2114's OPAMPS. I'm gonna have them replaced with LT1361 & a pair of OP2134's OPAMPS. LT1361 opamps improves overall clarity, sound stage depth and dynamics; while the 2134's improve the low end of the card adding more weight.

Will be also picking up a set of Denon AH-D2000 Headphones and doing the MarkL mod.

Asus Essence STX (LT1361 & 2134 OPAMPS)>Audioengine A2(On Auralex Iso Pads>Sennheiser HD280Pro & Denon DH-D2000 (MarkL Mod)

I'll maybe get a Benchmark DAC1 PRE if money allows and Audioengine A5's

Portable Upgrade
Cowon D2 16GB Premium MP3 Player
Meier Audio Corda Headsix Headphone Portable Amp
Audio Techinica AD700 Open Headphones

Get a Pair of AKGs i really like (hopefully the 501s fit the bill)

Get a New Sound Card or mod the XFi Music.

Get a new Headphone amp and look into external DACs and sound rigs, separate of my computer.

Get a pair of ATH-W5000, ATH-AD2000, ATH-A2001X, ATH-ESW10 or 9s.

listen to a pair of: Ultrasone ED9 and ED7s, D7000s, HD800, K1000s, K340, Sextetts, Rest of the ATH-W series, STAX systems, HE90.

Get a Portable amp.

Maybe look in to reference speakers for my desktop computer.

Learn to recable stuff.

Have funds to recable stuff.

Eventually Minimize head phone set up to:

2 portables
1 work cans
3-5 home cans
2 Home amps
1 portable amp

No IEMs, Until i cant find a good pair of headphones to sleep with on.

All of this in no particular order of course. Im young, and i got plenty of time to catch up to the rest of the more Hardcore audiophiles.

Unless i go deaf,*knock* or the apocalypse comes in 2012 like so many people think it will *knock*

Current Setup:
Chaintech AV-710 (Optical out) > Denon DA-500 DAC > Soloz Resolution IC > TCA Gizmo > Onix Reference 0.5s

Modifications/Upgrades to the current system:
-Soloz Audio TCA Gizmo Mod (larger output caps)
-Skiing Ninja crossover upgrade (Onix Reference 0.5s)
-Vintage Vinyl player
-Some headphone amp (maybe a millet max)

Thats about it for now, since over time i have been racking up more and more responsibilities and have to pay them.

My current rig is in my sig.

I plan to sell the integrated amp and buy a Power Amp, most likely the Audiolab 8000P and use my Beresford DAC as a Pre-Amp until I can afford a dedicated Pre-Amp.

I'll be buying some cables from Soloz later in the year, an IC and a decent headphone cable.

I'm looking at getting new standmounts, I'm looking at B&W 685 and Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2, that desicion won't be made without demoing them beforehand though!

I'd also like to upgrade my headphones to something better, ATH-AD900/HD600 and a dedicated Headphone Amp.

I don't want much...

EDIT:

I forgot about a CDP probably a Marantz or Arcam.
