I got my PC set up bare on the desk last night as I've started to paint the case. This has given me a good chance to take a picture of the sound card so I can ask... where do i plug in the front audio sockets? I've searched high and low for information but I think it's easier if I ask someone who has a similar card.
Thanks and sorry for the bad picture quality, I took it at night.

You do not plug your front panel jacks to this. You plug in a Creative Labs i/o bay or LIVE DRive! as they were called. See the example of one here:

It's obvious I don't have one or I would be using it. I want to know where to plug it into the care, look at all the pins, it's clear one of them must be for this. Indeed it's common sense that they would go into the same pins as the drive bay, so, please enlighten me.

The point I should have made is: These connectors are proprietary! They dont just plug in to your front panel jacks. Have I made this clear now? I was trying to give you an easy solution, have some good connectivity and a cheap way of doing it. Sorry I did not read your mind. There is no magic way to rewire these: Maybe this will help, but it is messy.

The front panels all connect the same. OLD STYLE 40 IDE cable, not ATA66/100. Some of the newer drives had firewire, optical ports etc, but for the most part, all of the live drives/i-o bays had midi or mini-midi, mic and headphones outputs with volume and level controls. Some of the colors varied, but I simply painted a few of them in different colors to match my cases.
Newer models had infrared remotes, but those were not any more popular than the originals. The Audigy 2's had these as well, some with firewire some without, and that matched cards with firewire connections. But all and I mean all of those old live drives, work with newer audigy's and x-fi (non-pci express). The X-FI does have to have the IDE style pinouts, not the ten pin as the Titaniums. Cheers mate, jmacguire |

So the long row of pins on the right are for an IDE cable?

That long row of pins fits with an old style of IDE cable. In the late 90s the newer ATA66/100 cables came out with the blue connectors, but those wont fit. When Creative released these Live drives/i-o bays, they acted as if the cables were proprietary. But in fact the cables are compatible with unblocked-pin ide cables (40 pin) or really old SCSI cables, making sure they are both oriented in the same direction. When most people sell the i/o bays, they usually include the cable so you probably wont have to worry about it. On the i/o bay itself, you will see an arrow marking pin 1 and it is the same way on the card, so just match your cable up with enough holes to fit the pins, and Bingo you are good to go, mate!
Cheers, and enjoy jmacguire |

It's a shame the only ones I can find are from the states and they are asking for a ridiculous amount for postage :/
