Default X-Fi Dead ?

Installed Win 7 RC x64 yesterday. Installed the new X-Fi drivers. everything went fine. restarted the PC and windows says no x-fi detected.

removed the drivers, restarted, BSOD's on startup.

booted in to safe mode cleaned all creative drivers, restart PC and BOOT MGR is missing.

reinstall Win 7 RC x64, and still no X-Fi in Device Manager. Installing drivers says no compatible hardware found.

Using X-Fi Xtreme Music, changed the PCI slot too. that didn't work. still no luck. running out of ideas here.

UPDATE: putting the damn SOC back in the PCI slot it did not work in and removing the speaker jacks made it get recognized and let the driver install. Makes me wonder what the problem was, maybe having the sub on the carpet , maybe a grounding issue or something ?

Silly X-Fi. I've seen them do weird things about detection...

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular (8) Sequential does not matter as much as random for OS drives
