Default Buying Headphones need advice

hi guys actually i never bought good HeadPhones coz never thought they were important

but now i really wanan buy a good set of headphones

my budget is like 100-150$ max and what i require from them is that they should have a mic and should be USB compatible (prefer)

also they must be atleast 5.1 compatible also i would not mind getting a 7.1

so my vendor has told me that these two models are available

Razer barracuda(dont know how to spell guessing this must be it)

Razer Piranha

any good advices on which to buy would be good for me

if you want audio calrity and quality, avoid the usb 5.1/7.1 headsets. do as juggalo said, get a good pair of stereo headphones, and a clip on mic, and route them through your soundcard. the USB headset would completely bypass the soundcard (rendering it useless) imho, razer is good at one thing... and that is mice and accesories for them (mousepads)

i mean, they've expanded their holdings in the gamer market, and they may try to fast talk you and dazzle you with all the fancy words and gimmicks like surround sound headphones... but they're always worse then they sounded. Personally I fell for it, kinda. I have a pair of turtlebeach HPA Earforce 2.0s... a 5.1 headset that uses my soundcard for the outputs, instead of USB... I got a pair of good stereo headphones, and haven't picked them up since... they suck... they're nothing but a gimmick.

over boomy bass, makes it harder to focus on the smaller things (knife switching sounds, ladders, glass breaking, etc) when theres a team mater firing off an AWP or mowing people down with an AK...

no true rear channel, you'll never no when someone is behind you, it's sooo buggy....

1 large driver has a better response frequency range then 2 small drivers... so the coverage of the spectrum sounds better with stereo headphones anyways...

options:

AD700s
HD555s
A700s
DT770/80s
and more I'm sure... + Zalman mic

surround sound headphones (5.1/7.1) are a gimmick...

comfort, go with audio technica

what kind of music do you like?

rock/metal get some grados

Techno/trance: I don't know

Classical/Jazz: get the HD555s

Bass, Hardcore: DT770 pro 80s or A700s

honestly, imho, I'd say the Audio Technica A700s are a perfect match for you, sounds like you'll be gaming, so they're closed back headphones, allowing for better bass extension, and less sound leakage, so you can fouc on your game more, and they're very comfortable for those long gaming sessions. I personally have a pair of AD700s (their open backed brothers) and can attest to the comfort, and quality of audio technica headphones
