Just sort of ignore the thread title, i've basically changed the idea of the thread to; RECOMMEND ME THE BEST SOUND CARD I CAN GET FOR $100 OR UNDER
I'm currently in the market for a new sound card and am looking for something under $100 that will be good for gaming, music, and movies.

Well, what games do you play currently? (important question relating to EAX issues).

Also, do NOT get a Bluegears b-Enspirer. 1 year Warranty, and they have a nasty habit of dying after 13 months or so.

How would the HT OMEGA striker and x-fi titanium stack up against the ASUS' that were recommended earlier?

ASUS has definitely made a name for itself in the short time it's been on the high-end sound scene. The Omega and X-Fi are both quality cards, too. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Creative has some driver issues for some people, so that's one thing to keep in mind. Maybe an audiophile can come in and start talking about Op-Amps and decoder chips and other technical jargon I know nothing about, and guide you in the right direction. If I had to pick, I'd do the ASUS PCI card, since my PCI-E x1 slot is right by my video card, and they have a good reputation.
