I have never heard of Nuforce before, are they a quality company when it comes to audio? The reviews on Amazon seem promising, but I'm just looking for a little input from our own OCN community. Thanks everyone!

Good price, however these are not IEM's. I'm looking for in-ear phones that fit snugly and block out outside noise for when I'm using my Zune. I've had bad experiences with normal buds. For one, they do not seem to stay in my ears when moving about, and they get uncomfortable over time.

They are said to be one of the best for <$50.

The grado's with an i are the newest versions. They are slightly different. The biggest difference is the SR80 come with bowl pads I believe, but the SR80i come with flat pads. Both SR60 and SR60i have the flat pads.

How do the Nuforce's compare to other $50 IEM's, such as the Shure SE110's, Ultimate Ears Metro.fi 150/70's, or V-Moda Vibe's?

And for the Grado's, do the bowl pads sit around the ear, while the flat pads are on-ear?

Honestly, I can't say more than that they are pretty much agreed upon as one of the best for the price. I might get some actually. Some ppl recommended me those and some Maximo im590 for rock/metal genres. I'll leave it up to others to compare them, I've never used any of those.

I believe the bowl pads sit on the ear as well, but I could be wrong. If my understanding is correct, the SR80i design eliminated the need for the bowl pads, and used the flat pads instead, which I believe are more comfortable.

It may be a matter of preference (some ppl still like the bowl pads). Let me tell you, (some) Grado owners go crazy with pads. There are a ton of different pads ppl use. Lots of mods too. Nothing like walking through a crowded city wearing grados with yellow hd414 pads. I bet thats an experience.

You should check out Head-fi (WARNING: your wallet will hate me for giving you this link), its a great resource for audio enthusiasts like us. Search around for some reviews.

Okay, thanks for the response. I'll wait and see if anyone else has some reviews and/or comparisons of some of the other models in the $50 range. If I'm going to become an audiophile, I want to do it right (while staying in/around my price range, of course.)

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I've never had experience with either type of pads, so I wouldn't know what my preference is as of yet. Maybe I'll try to find a local store that has some that I can try on (I doubt it, but you never know).

Okay, so so far I'm looking at getting a set of Grado SR80(i)'s and some Nuforce NE-7M's. That will set me back about $150, which is pretty much the most I would like to spend if I am going to buy both a new set of audiophile cans and a pair of IEM's. Anyone else have any comparisons on some other sets of IEM's in the $50 range? Or even cans in the $100 range that I might have overlooked? Thanks!

Sorry to be a penis but you do not become an audiophile, there is a huge over use of the word here on OCN, you do not simply become an audiophile when you own X headphones and X amp or have spent X amount of gear.

On OCN there are probably no more than 2-3 audiophiles in the truest sense of the word.

Sorry to rant, it's aimed at the overuse of the word, not you personally!

I would suggest doing more reading up on IEM's before you dive into a purchase as they do seem to be quite different in terms of their sound and weak and strong points. (I'm not trying to put you off the Nu-Force, just asking you to take your time on the decision.)

Don't be sorry tuDJ, it's all a part of helping another out

I actually thank you for stating that, as it allows me to clear up what I meant. I'm not necessarily becoming an audiophile, I'm just getting more into sound quality and respect for good sounding speakers/headphones.

The only reason I use that word is to have people recognize what I mean. When someone sees the word "audiophile," (most) think good quality sound/headphones/etc. That is all I'm trying to say .

As for the IEM's, I am trying to take my time and do a little more research before making any of my purchases. I read the IEM guide on Head-fi as a basis for understanding exactly what they are and what I should look for, and now I am just looking for some input on different brands and types from the OCN community.

Again, thank you for pointing that out, as I do not wish to be misunderstood.
