Default The Second OCN Pay-It-Forward CD Exchange

On behalf of the entire OCN Staff I would like to announce the second OCN Pay-It-Forward CD Exchange, hosted here in the OCN Audio Section by section editors soloz2 and myself.

~~~
The first exchange was fairly successful and in large part functioned as planned. As such, staff decided it was time for a second run. There will be a few format changes this time around, specifically to promote involvement from members across the entire forum. It is our hope that these new guidelines will benefit everyone and carry the exchange along at a quicker (and smoother) pace.
~~~

The premise as originally posted by soloz2:

Quote:
This is something I have wanted to start for some time now, but have only recently pursued. My goal with this program is to broaden people's musical horizons and hopefully have people experience amazing music that they would not may not normally come into contact with.

The basic premise is simple. We will start a 'chain' where someone will send you a CD and you in turn will send a CD to someone else.
~~~
Rules:
  • If you sign up you must be willing to give away a CD and pay postage to ship that CD.
  • CD's should be in like-new condition. They do not have to be new/sealed, but should be able to be played in any CD player.
  • If you want to share a SACD it must be a hybrid disc that will play in any CDP. Not everyone owns a SACD player.
  • Ideally, CD's should be quality recordings as we are all music lovers and are often critical about music and gear. Or think of it this way: send them a CD that you think they will like or one of your favorites for a critical listening session.
  • Once you receive your CD simply PM the next person in line for their address. Please respond quickly so we can get CD's shipped within a week of receiving your new disc.
  • No burned/copied CD's. We don't need any DRM issues!
  • Have fun! send a disc that you enjoy! When you receive your disc post in this thread some impressions and to let everyone else know where in line they are.
~~~

The New Format:

This is how we will group members together to carry out this exchange. Instead of organizing all interested members into one large grouping, we are dividing everyone into subgroups that are based solely on the location of where you reside.

The theory behind this is to run the exchange across these multiple subgroups all at once. Instead of having only one person receiving a cd at a time, we have 4-5 people collecting and shipping at every single point in the exchange.

The groups have been devised as such -

Group #1 - USA
Group #2 - USA
Group #3 - USA
Group #4 - International (Europe)
Group #5 - International (Canada)
Group #6 - Mixed (USA/Europe/Canada)

*Minimum of 4 or maximum of 6 members in any one subgroup*
*You may participate in multiple subgroups, but you must be willing to part with one cd for each respective subgroup*

This last group can sort of serve as a placeholder in case we do not have enough involvement in one of the international groups or for those who would rather add some international flavor to their music collection. Also, we can always add more groups if necessary. I hope we will have to .

For the USA Groups, I will attempt to organize them regionally to help with shipping expenses and time. Unfortunately, we will most likely not be able to do this with the international groups under the assumption that there will be far less participation.

~~~
Getting Involved:
Simply post your username and your location if you wish to take part in this exchange (USA members - please include state or region). Do consider your involvement before your post, because we will need members to honor their participation if interest is lacking.
Thanks very much. Now, let's get this exchange started!
~~~

I'd be willing to participate in multiple groups also, if we're running low on people , but for now I'm just in for one group. I love this idea, thanks for thinking of it!

Got you marked in both for now Mike.

Put you in USA #2 sccr, you could start an eastern region subgroup. I'm in the midwest, so that's why I separated myself.
