Headphone recomendations.. - Overclock.net

After using a pair of ATH A700's then moving to a lower quality 5.1Headphone (yes, i know -_-)

I'm gonna see if I can get a pair of headphones that actually sound good lol.. (to me)

couple of criteria Im hoping to follow...

Sealed - I wanna remove as much ambient noise as I can. (however it seems I may have to sacrifice this.)
Excellent bass response. I hate it when I put on some electronic or hiphop and it sounds like I have a tweeter in my ear. I love my bass.
Good sound stage for gaming (primary use)

Budget will be under $300 and is going to be paired with my existing CreativeX-Fi Titanium Fata1ty Champ1on

Sounds good but, TO ME, it sounded like mids were washed out and lows were just not there.

Really, I felt like I had a tweeter in my ear... all i heard was high pitched noises in games and my music had absolutely no hits (lows) just vocals

Then maybe check out the A900? That's the only other closed can even close to your budget I can think of that would be good for gaming. If you wanna save a ton of dough you could always rock the JVC RX700/900 for like 30-50 bucks.

You're not even willing to consider open cans?

:/ Well how much of a difference does open can vs closed make?

If it rules out too many options, Ill make a sacrifice I guess

No it doesn't really I guess. It's just that the AD700 is open and is one of the best gaming headphones on the market right now because of the wide soundstage. However, it has even less bass than the A700 so that's why I suggested the A900 - still closed, wide soundstage for gaming. But I don't think the bass is that much more on the 900 vs the 700 - the difference is mostly in the detail of the treble. Would you consider a headphone amp or not? Because the A900's bass would improve somewhat with an amp.

Oh! And the Beyerdynamic DT770 is also a great closed headphone for gaming! Generally needs an amp to shine though.

Believe me, a 'somewhat increase' in bass response wouldn't make me happy with the A700's I had

I will have no problem buying an amp, or going to open cans if I just get a good quality headphone that actually has bass response lol

is my budget too low?

Nah, not at all. You're gonna have to wait for somebody else to help you with amps though because I don't know much about them.
