Default Need help choosing win 7 (64 bit) card for 8GB ram.

I'm looking for a card that works on Win7 (64bit) with 8GB of ram and will be superb for gamin while provide good functionality if I switch to an HTPC

Okay guys I need some help here. I need to buy a sound card that is compatible with Windows 7 (64 bit) and 8GB of ram. Creative has pretty much informed me they don't care about their customers and will not making working drivers. So I will not be purchasing a product from creative. If anyone knows of some links to some cards that have been verified to work Win 7 (64 bit) with 8GB of ram installed I'd be greatful.

Well i have a creative card and have been using it with windows 7 since the spring. And it is regarded as one of the better cards for gaming, and would work fine for an htpc as long as you used a mid tower and not a low profile case.

Auzentech make cards based upon Creative's X-Fi chip - but with better driver support. If you plan on gaming heavily, then I would definitely recommend an Auzentech Prelude or Forte (depending on budget).

They also have decent sound quality - although Asus Xonar cards currently boast the best sound.

I have a creative card and Win 7, and 8 gigs of RAM and it works fine. I have the X-Fi Titanium. All creative is saying is that they don't guarantee that they drivers will work with Win 7, but they do. I have not had any problems.

Then you are very lucky. I hang around this forum a lot - and I have seen dozens of people who are having issues with their creative cards. I would recommend staying away from them.

Have not had a single problem with my drivers. I used vista drivers for a while also and they worked fine. Then I installed win7 drivers and i swear it sounded better.

That wouldn't be too difficult considering it is a creative card.

Only creative's XF-I cards work in 64 bit OS with more than 4GB of ram. Creative has basically shown me that they have no intentions of fixing this issue any time soon with their audigy series cards. Their tech support is e-mail only from their website which states 24hr response time. It's been 7 days no response.

I googled and found a hidden tech support phone number an got some outsourced idiot from singapore who didn't solvey problem at all and basically sent me an email with 5 links to the knowledgebase that I ha already looked into before calling and already told the rep I had tried so if creative doesn't care about their customers then I don't care about them and I'm going to look elsewhere.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the Asus and azure cards. Just got
to make sure the one I get has drivers.

the x-fi based cards have been out several years. Creative doesn't want to update drivers for older cards because they want you to purchase an updated card... which really isn't a bad idea anyway.
