Talking noob to audio, and in dier need of HELP!

ok, so my kid ripped my cord out of my 40.00 head set today.. so me being good with most electronics, wired it to my surround sound. it puts out 15w max a channel and i only used 2 channels out of 5. the front left and right. the sound is so dang good.. well i love my music loud.. by loud i mean so loud my wife hears it from the other room loud. this is where my caution is...

CAUTION: never run 10-15w into a 2-3w max speaker, bad fire hazard.

i was rocking out and i smelled electronic smoke.. took the headset off to find smoke coming out the back.. lucky, they still play and i didn't burst my head into flames. so my question is what head set can i get that will handle power, and play clear and loud? my budget is 100.00 max. would like to go cheaper, but i don't want to skimp out.. my sig is not to up to date. i have a sound blaster 7.1 surround card now. to add to it.

Since you control the volume knob, really, any headphone but really, you should really play it at a comfortable listening volume as of course, you can get hearing loss, which currently, is permanent. I really hope are are talking about speakers when you are talking about "by loud i mean so loud my wife hears it from the other room loud"

Music tastes?

Great idea... I mean since money grows on trees and all I bet he can increase his budget easily right...

Onto more helpful advice. I cannot think of and headphones taht can hanndle that kind of power. I bought a set of Sennheiser 212 pros and I love them. I can hear sounds in the game that I never heard before. They are loud as hell causing me to turn the volume down to 75 from 100. They are just below your budget so you might want to check em out.

nope. that's from my head set. not normal speakers, i cant use them as my wife don't like it when i play cod4 or left for dead. lol nothing like a shot gun blast going off and the scream of a witch.. umm i listen to all kinds of music. currently i have 30gb of music, i had a lot more but i went through and got rid of everything i don't really listen to much anymore.i have 98% of it still on disc in my storage rack or packed in my storage room. i love rock, and metal, new and old, some thrash metal, R&B, little rap, and hardly any country.. i don't know why but i love loud, live concerts, and have always loved my music to be loud as heck. if my wife gets on my comp to do something she always turns the volume way down, i have a habit of running it 90/95%, she runs 20-30%. and so far my hearing is great. i get complete physicals yearly for work and have had no signs of loss. if i ever do i will be turning my stuff down, but i will enjoy it while i can.

thanks Villainstone i will look into those in just a second. i don't mind spending the full 100.00 if i need to, but i just really want some good, loud, quality sound.
