Default Xtremegamer to Auzentech Forte...

The cost of upgrade is pretty significant, and i was wondering if the rewards warrant the costs. I have the xtremegamer right now and really like it, but I just want to upgrade and wondered if it was worth it or if i should keep the xtremegamer and forget spending the extra $100 after saling this xtremegamer to get the Forte 7.1

I went from a X-Fi Platinum to an Elite Pro to a Prelude. The upgrade was definitely worth it, the only one that wasn't was from Elite Pro to the Prelude because I thought the Elite Pro sounded quite good. Still, I've always had my heart set on the Prelude so I went for it.

Are you using it primarily for gaming? Also, what speakers/headphones are you using it with and what equipment do you plan on buying later, if any?

I am now a big fan of Audiotrak. Even their basic, unmoded soundcards are very satisfying.

Depends on whether you need the gaming aspects or analog 7.1 outputs. If it's just headphones, there are better. Xtremegamer = low end tbh.

imo it's only worth it if you have a decent pair of headphones.

I don't really have a need for later equipment until i get ready to replace this card if i buy it...

I am using a set of Audio Technica AD700's and love them, I listen to lots of music, but I game a ton!

Audio Technica AD700's should do the trick.
