Default Windows 7 Equalizer and Problem with left channel

Hello

I've been having a problem for a long time.

Before I had a pair of pretty decent Altec Lansing speakers and every now and then the left channel would would cut out (Quiet typical with old speakers) so I didn't think anything of it so when they finally broke I put in some stock dell speakers that I had laying around the house and the left channel worked for about 3 minutes then cut out and I figured they were old and falling apart just like the Altec lansing but now I got a brand new pair of speakers Altec Lansing BX1221, they aren't that great but they were in my price range.

The left side doesn't work at all, I tested them out on other things like my PSP and iPod and they worked great, I installed new drivers and still no sound. Could the 3mm. jack for the mobo/sound card be broke?

I'm confused since the right channel works.

For now I'm using a Logitech USB Microphone/Headphone adapter that works well and I was wondering if there are any Equalizer programs natively in Windows 7, not in WMP12 but in the actual operating system so my games would have more bass then what the default is.

Thank you in advanced, I tried google but results were for WMP12 and I could care less for that program.

i would imagine the jack is bad, have you also tried adjusting your equalizer?? i see that you mention you have checked the drivers. one issue i had with my speakers once is that i realized that i plugged them in wrong, before that the sub never worked, you may try that. If you can go to adjust the equalizer you may try hooking up the speakers under different channels. But this all depends if the speakers have their own separate plugins. If its one solid plug for audio, then you may want to look into if you have it wired up right or possibly hooking it up in a different port and adjusting your equalizer. Another note if all this doesnt work, do a google search for possible known problems with speakers not working for your mobo.

Good luck

Yeah I'm pretty sure my jack is all jacked up

all the channels are turned up both left and right, its a single plug and doesn't work anywhere else but in the light green plug port.

poop.
