I love music..
I'm not sure why but recently I have felt that my speakers have not being giving me satisfactory audio quality. I have tried messing around with the EQ but that doesn't seem to help at all, I think that my sound card has buggered? or does it just work or not work? I think it may be due to me going to big drum and bass clubs recently listening to their huge sound systems ![]() Anyway, what would you guys recommend, a new set of speakers or sound card? or non-PC speakers, perhaps like my housemate has, he has two tower speakers (like 5ft high) connected to an amp (little small box on the table) then a cable from his amp to his PC ![]() My current speakers = Logitech X530 (5.1) Sound card = Creative Audigy Soundblaster (6 or 7yr old I think)

Don't buy anything until you have a good soundcard. Otherwise your investment will be worthless.
Get a soundcard first, see how you like the sound. If you don't like the sound come back and we will help you pick out some speakers.

Maybe the card has seen better days, the audio quality of that card is about between the Realtek ALC 888 and 889 in its heyday. Maybe you could reinstall the drivers to see if thats your problem.
But I think a better Sound card would be the best upgrade, the X530 is a good set. But thats your disision. I went from a hopelessly old analog VIA audiochip to a new ALC 889 and with my set but did not notice much improvement, its really a personal choice...

Your speakers are good in my opinion... I personally would upgrade the sound card as its the first to process the sound an then you hear it through the speakers. I recently got the Sound Blaster X-Fi extreme gamer card. Talk about clarity & bass with great options for changing the sound through there sound panel. Also the advanced EAX is nice for gaming as well.. Remember your only as strong as your weakest link...

The x-fi is better for gaming. If you listen to music, I think you can find a better sound card for music than the x-fi gamer. And also, these guys might know better than me, but I noticed a much bigger improvement when I upgraded my headphones, rather than when I upgraded my sound card (even though it was from onboard to a $180 card). I dont know if the same goes for speakers though. If you have enough money, the guru's in here can recommend you an external audio setup that will trump your sound card.

I'd say either go for a sound card, or if you do go for speakers do what your friend did; get a nice receiver and a pair of nice speakers. If you have the money to, then I'd definitely go for the receiver/speakers instead of the sound card.

Your speakers will definitely sound better if plugged into a better sound card. I used to connect an amp to my PC with my sound card, and the amp was also connected to an iPod dock... man the sound difference was crazy!!! Go with something like an Auzentech or around that grade.
