I heard the Musiland Monitor 02 US, which is what I have, is better than a modded STX

As for the Musiland how is the USB input? I have heard some bad things. And I found it on ebay but does it come in black? Lol.

I didn't know there were problems with the USB input, none here. It comes in silver, but I'm sure you could spray it with some duplicolor black for 1.50$ and it would look pretty good.

But someone on head fi recommended the Gamma 1. How does it stand up? Here is my post at head fi, it is slightly different from this one as far as the original post goes. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/wou...6/#post6137375

Well I've never heard of the Gamma 1, but I looked it up. It seems to be a portable amp, if that's what you're looking for, meaning, it wont have nearly as many outputs and the Musiland 02 US would. I'm sure the Musiland sounds better anyway. I don't really need a portable amp, so I have no reason to get one as I don't have to drive to work, since all I do is walk downstairs. And I don't live in a city where I take the train because I just have my car stereo.
So Musiland for me! :d

EDIT: So I was showing my dad the Musiland and the Zero and that's when I noticed, they have a zero with USB. http://cgi.ebay.com/ZERO-Tianyun-24-...item3ca2657d5f Does anyone know how the USB is on the Zero? I have heard some band things about other USB inputs having clipping and other things?

Just get the Musiland. You are deliberating a lot. Musiland is better than STX and Zero and cheaper too, I think.

Hi, i'm Barry Scott!

Which Musliand are you looking at? Link?
I just bought a Zero DAC, albeit to run from my Xonar D2 via optical. It will then run via line out to my Little Dot MKIII. As for the USB, most amps use a cheap USB component that limits the quality that it can carry. Only the more expensive chips (which only feature in costly DACs) support 96kb/s. Via Optical, Coax etc..., the Zero will support up to 192kb/s
