Default SB Audigy SE Dead mic port?

For the life of me i can't get the mic port on this video card to work. I tried two sets of drivers and i just can't seem to get it to pick up my mic.

I know this mic works because i tested it on another computer and it worked just fine. Sound works ok but after a few hours i get this error when i try to open something else that uses sound.

It says no sound mixer present but i still have sound in windows. Weird problem... i've seen it before on another machine, with onboard but the problem was the overclock wasn't 100% stable.

This is at stock though...

That is quite strange. Hmm...the only thing I can think to suggest at this point would be to go Start->Run->dxdiag

At the top there is a tab, "Sound" click that and toward the bottom of that page it should let you know if the drivers are working properly or if there is another issue.

Audigy's and x-fi's have two things in common. They use a flexi-jack which can be used as a line-in and mic-in. You have to use the Creative control panel which can set the jack to its intended purpose. Have you tried setting the Flexijack settings?
