you want some thump? 12" sub
or and I loved mine 15" sub you will have to design and build your own box, but it is much better than buying some overpriced garbage sub from most retailers. One draw back to the 15" is it takes alot of cubic feet to get it to hit really low. I think my box was 6 or 6.5 cubic feet with a 1000w amp (never at max), and yah it thumped, best home audio sub I have ever heard, and that includes the ones at BB, circuit city, and ultimate electronics. Better to design and build your own speakers than to every buy the pre built ones, you get exactly what you want at a much lower price, you should look around on the a/v forums for good designs that fit your budget, most of those if not all will blow any garbage from infinity or polk out of the water as far as sound quality and frequency response go. I would say you have a good ear for sound quality, the distortion is absolutely terrible on those, and any other set logitech makes, but it is for computer and so no one really cares (no audiophile that is).

This sub will slap that dayton around and spit it back out.
http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=406 This sub will be awsome. But to give you a huge rumble like shake walls and stuff well, your price range is too small. It will play loud and be great. But the earth shakeing bass, for me, never comes untill 18inch drivers with 20mm xmax are introduced and 1000watts +. For other people, 200watts on 10 inch subs seems like earth shaking, its all about the person, and what they have heard before.

All I have is a table saw and no clue on how to build any of this stuff. So i would like to see what a good set of speakers and a bass will cost. From there I will decide if I want to build one but I'm not sure I want to since it seems difficult and not handy with building something so exact.
Bass wise I like how loud the logitech can go but the quality is just not there. So all I need is a bass with good sounds and speakers that sound better then that, that is all I want. I'm also in a standard room dimension wise, so like something small will go a long way. as I sad my budget is around 500, so I can take that bass and then get some decent speakers for 150-200 a pair I think I should just drive around and go to local places and listen before I go off and buying things since you have to hear it and don't want to be making a mistake

Would that sub be better or? Why i came here is to see what I can get for my money, know some good products to look for, and use this as a fall back if I don't find anything in the stores. What is the difference between a 10" and a 12" sub? What are the pros and negatives about them?

I know your gonna laugh but I have Logitech Z Cinema speakers and I love them. I love in an apartment with my mom (I'm in 11th Grade) and these things shake my bedroom window, the light on my ceiling, and you can hear them in my building hallway. Plus at 100% volume there is absolutely no distortion. I don't use the software that enable the SRS Surround Sound because I don't see a need for it, it actually limits the max volume.

Ya know moms can be a real pain! Especially when you get a new computer and there so paranoid that they won't let you install a GPU though they know you love computers... I want to be 18 right about now I wrote that about a year ago. Now look at my first rig after I found a job in my signature! I love buying things for myself and not waiting for someone to give stuff to me.

not the distortion, the quality is what I'm talking about, it lacks quality in the sound
Will using my sub and getting some nice 8 Ohm speakers work out fine or do you suggest I completely upgrade since what I'm looking for is some better quality since my bas is 2 8.5" drivers in one.

Between and 10 and a 12, nothing really. Most people say smaller drivers are tighter, because there is less air resitance etc, but my 18 sounds fine. The one upside of bigger drivers, is deeper sounding bass, and not to mention flater down to 20hz.' they say they use long throw high excursion drivers, but most bottom out at 10mm one way.

Creative's drivers are amazing. Never had a problem with them. And remember, a garbage sound card will make speakers sound like garbage. I have a set of Z-5500's, and they're definitely pretty nice for the price range. They do get kinda crappy at really high volumes, but this is a PC setup for gaming, not music.
