Default what speaker/ bass to choose for PC?

I need new sound card/ speakers for my PC

Operating system: Windows 7 64bit

I like huge rumble in games(shakes everything) and good quality sound for dance, house, techno, trance music

Sound card: Xonar D2, ASUS Xonar DX 7.1, HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 can't decide witch oen to get

Why did I not want a X-fi? It is from creative and drivers suck. I had to sell my audigy 2zs for 25 bucks due to I can't get my equalizer to work, the tweaks and other stuff that worked on xp are all gone, so, for further future proof I don't like them unless you have experience that it will work fine with windows 7 and I can get those features.

My sound: Altec Lansing's Select 641 (4.1 channel). What is wrong with it? It is old and was thinking of upgrading them. I was thinking of keeping the bass since it has 8 Ohm impedance and love it. It also says that it should ONLY be used with altec lansing but since it says 8 Ohm's, I thought I can just use any 8 Ohm speaker with them correct? If so, is it a good idea to keep the bass and find good speakers to replace mine or do I have to do a full upgrade?

If doing a full upgrade, my price range is around 500 I know it isn't much but just need something basic that is better then what I have. All I need is a 4.1 channle system.

Note: I HATE the sound of Logitech Z5500, idk what it is but they just suck in sound quality. Is that a good or bad sign?(terms of if I got a good musical ear or not or w/e you call it)

http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/athena_asb1.htm Was thinking 2 of these and a http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=300-635. Good idea?

I also don't mind geting a speaker and puting them into prebuilt boxes either

I like m-audio for soundcards. As far as speakers go, I've always done individual amps with B&W's, so I'm not a good judge of 4.1 setups for under 500. AS far as will your sub work another receiver? If it's an 8-ohm speaker, it will work with any receiver pretty much. Just make sure you don't give it too much power.

If you want huge rumble, why not check out some bass shakers ? I have 2 on my couch.

Attach them to your chair, use a subwoofer for the noise, and the shakers for that rumble you want :P.

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=299-028

The sub you posted will give you good bass, but not very good rumble. I cant see that sub going down to 25hz, more like 30, with -3db even there.

You would be surprized of how musical they feel. There not just a massage chair.

do you suggest I have a different bass? Or is it good for what it is? rumbler's? Never heard of them and won't consider that until i get my speaker and sub stuff worked out.

Well anything in the Xonar line is fantabulous, the Xonar D1 I bought is the best sound card I have ever used.

Mine is paired with a Harman/Kadron AVR 125 and 2xCerwin-Vega VS-80's, they sound great and pump lots of bass so I don't need a sub.

Once you decide on a sound card (there are a few good ones out there, I can personally recommend the Xonar line) then it is time to shop for a good amp and some good speaker.

Polk has an inexpensive floor standing speakers good for entry level audiophile's. You can pick up the Polk M60's for $119 per speaker.

As far as sub, it depends on price.

What is your price range?

Onkyo has some good, not too expensive receivers out. A decent entry level would be the Onkyo SR507.

My sub is around 200 and speakers are around 300. I don't see why you need a receiver if your doing a 4.1 or a 2.1 set up. I'm looking for a setup to really rumble when I game. Speakers I'm looking for are book shelf speakers. The ones I provided I don't want any bigger if possible.

I love B and W 601's clarity but it lacks bass and to expensive. I love how Infinity speakers sound like.

Dude with the Subs QUALITY NOT QUANTITY and you will get much better sounding bass and rumble and also bigger does not always mean better.
