Default I know I keep making threads...

But, my plans keep falling through. I feel guilty for spending too much when I promised my GF a nice holiday. As such, I am going to guy a headphone amp, second hand.

I have the Sony MDR-XB700 headphones. Would they react well to an amp?

Out of these amps, which would you take?

"Mini Millet Starving Student inc. 8 x 19J6 - UK"
http://www.whiplashaudio.com/amplifi...amplifier.html

"Little Dot Mk III"
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f42/fs...new-uk-454355/

Any other headphone amps for the £130 range?

Honestly, I don't think I've ever heard someone getting amps for the XB700. It's a relatively low-impedance, high sensitivity headphone, isn't it?

Not sure what all ur budget is. But a better amp than those is the PA2V2. Great amp made by just one guy. Gary is a nice guy. Email him and check out the amp at electric-avenues.com. It's a great amp. He's sold over 6000

Yeah, I looked up the impedance and it's only 24Ω.

So, you say these really wouldn't benefit from an amp? I was pretty dead set on the Little Dot MKIII for £120 or so.

Unless you're getting the feeling that your headphones are showing signs of "underpowering" (e.g. playing fine for slow music and then getting very sloppy when the music becomes faster paced and complex or bass disappearing whenever there's mids or highs), then I don't think there's a point. I was hard pressed to find a difference on my HD595 50 ohm + Little Dot MKII but my JVC HA-DX3 (90 ohm, 98 db/mW sensitivity) went from absolute rubbish to actually playing music nicely. I think you'll be disappointed with buying an amp at this point. It would probably benefit you more if you got a DAC.

Heh, well it's too late because I bought the Little Dot MK III. It's also a future investment for when I next upgrade.
