Default ASIO WinAMP

It's not playing back anything other than FLAC for some reason.

Resampling is set to 96khz in the Audio Creation Mode CP.

I actually have "Always resample 44.1kHz <->48kHz" off. I jsut cna't be bothered doing the screen shot again

Winamp is set to playback in 24bit mode.

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT:

Bit-matched, of course, is turned on.

Just out of interest, why are you trying to run FLAC. The Windows 7 and Vista sound architecture is based very closely to WaveRT which is very efficient.

You mean ASIO?

I don't know, honestly. I was reading in an x-fi thread that ASIO sounds better, so I thought I'd give it a shot. When I get it working, I was going to compare (just for myself, mind) and decide from there. But at the moment only FLAC files will playback

It doesn't really sound better, it's mainly aimed at reducing latency. But, as I said, Windows 7 and Vista use WASAPI which is similar to the WaveRT architecture. This is highly efficient and will perform roughly the same as ASIO.

I have used ASIO and it's simply more effort getting it to work than it's worth. It doesn't sound better to me.

ASIO is for XP where sound routing is inferior to Vista and Win7. You don't need ASIO in Win7.
