Default Please recommend a headset for around $100

Please recommend me a good headset for around $100. Primary use would be gaming. I'd like it to have a mic but would rather not sacrifice sound quality.

Thanks

Yeah, AH700s are best for gaming, but if you plan to do anything else like listen to music I'd recommend the HD555s, they're a bit more well rounded.

http://www.buy.com/prod/sennheiser-h.../90131764.html

I know it's not under 100. There should be places who do have it for that price though. Amazon decided to change from 85USD to MAP, which is 130.

Thanks fellas

Reviews for the 700s look good; pulling the trigger on 'em soon.

Is there a particular reason why they're not as good as the HD 555s for music?

They are just as good as the HD555s in music.

HD555s just have slightly more bass.

Thanks -- I ordered the 700s!

Also, for gaming, how much will using ob-board Realtek HD Audio hurt me? I.e., will the headphones be nearly useful if I don't have a diesel $100 sound card to match?

I've dreaded the day I have to spend $ on a real dedicated sound card but this may be it.

The Realtek onboard has a hard time doing positional audio very well. It all sounds pretty muffled at best. I've tested this on an ALC888, ALC889 and a ALC1200 vs my X-Fi XtremeMusic.

Let's be serious here. You spent a good deal on your i7 system and you're still running on onboard sound? Time to up the ante and go dedicated.

Yeah, there's really no point in getting a high end headphone if your sound card is onboard...
