Default X- ram on x-fi cards

Ok, am deciding between the x-fi and the x-fi fatalty fps card. My question is does the x ram really take pressure of the cpu and make your fps go faster? Ive heard alot of people say that games at the moment dont take use of the x-ram, what do you actually mean?

I personally would never spend that much on a soundcard (for the fatal1ty). That XRAM will help in about a year I'd say. Think about it though, we're talking about sound here. How much ram do you need on a soundcard for sound? I'd say that MAYBE you'd see a 1-2 FPS increase in a year from the xtrememusic to the fatal1ty. I'd get the xtrememusic!

Yes that one, not sure about the 5.1 as I've never had it but I think its 3 plugs for the speakers.

http://xfi.blogspot.com/2006/01/x-ram.html

It really has no effect even on most modern games, but in the near future (when games support X-RAM being used), you will enjoy a higher quality of sound with no loss in performance. That's what X-RAM is attemping to do, is:

1. Help produce higher qualities of sound
2. Reduce workload of the CPU by taking over the decompression of sounds
