Default Linking to sources

Twice this week I have had people link me to sources after they have claimed I was wrong and they were right. On reading these sources, it merely backed up what I had said, and the users who had posted the sources had clearly mis understood them or simply failed to read their own sources at all.

Could someone please re-iterate the importance of only posting sources if you have taken the time to read and fully understand them. It looks bad on OCN's part, because users are providing false info other users may take at face value just because they have provided a source/link.

I find it extremely frustrating when this happens, and it only degrades the quality of help and support that can be provided on OCN.

Agreed. I have seen a bit of this where people pick an article based on the title but do not actually read it to entirety.

I agree that people shouldn't do it. However, I would say that the majority of people probably DO ready their sources. Either way, I don't see how it could be better enforced by the OCN staff. I could be missing something though . Thanks for pointing it out.
