C.O.D. is a good way to do it but why C.O.D. a 20 dollar order for like 4 case fans sold? it is a good idea for larger items like vid cards that are $100+. I personally use paypal and pay with a credit card for this reason. if i do not receive my item, i can escalate it with paypal or dispute it with my credit card company. I am still waiting for a Samsung 226BW 22" monitor i paid 250 for 3.5 weeks ago. He sent it parcel post and its to APO so i understand it takes a while but 1 month seems a little too long. i have already opened a dispute case with paypal just in case i do not receive it at all so i can file a claim.

Thats funny this comes up...I had a bad transaction awhile ago.

First, started out that he wanted me to pay more than what we agreed, to cover shipping and handling.

All the parts I bought showed up broken...not broken in transit, broken before shipped.

I closed the paypal dispute because the guy said he would fix everything.

He owed me: a couple new security cameras and software.

I never got any of that.

So I complained to a few moderators, and they said they would help me.

One put some pressure on the seller, but to no avail.

So.......long story even longer....the seller had a for Sale thread, I simply commented "are you going to ship broken parts to these buyers as you did I?????"

My post got deleted.

BTW...the seller had no negative feedback (till me) and IS still on this forum!

I take serious offense to this. I have been reading/posing on these boards for quite some time.

Just because I do not site on news sites and post about the latest and greatest news... or give someone the best idea ever.. does not mean I would rip you off.

I am what most people refer to as a lurker. I post on topics I feel I have at least average knowledge of. If I can help someone, I will do everything I can.

For a prime example.. I loved Goby's Worklog on his TT Armor case. After some time.. he did not renew his hosting. Links to his images have been dead for months. Through a few PM's with him.. I setup and FTP account for him on my web space that I pay for. I asked nothing in return. I just wanted to see his hard work posted back up there for the rest of the community to see.

Granted I think rep plays alot into other people's decisions.. I do not think it should be the end all.

Well it turns out that he got into a bad car accident and was actually in the hospital for quite a bit of time. He tried to log on and tell me what happened when he got back, but he was banned. Good thing he wrote down my paypal email address.

Yea I suppose you're right. In my case I have the sellers email address. He keeps saying he'll ship but never does. Something really needs to be done about those that rip us off. Let's see...what about some sort of message for everyone to see in place of an avatar?

I'm not trying to prevent the fraud indefinitely. I'm simply trying to make sellers publicly (easy-to-access) while not permanently exposed for not shipping an item. It is a step BEFORE a negative trader rating, and I truly believe it could save some bad transactions from ending badly.

I take this thread into consideration of a "blacklist" like NASIOC(subaru forum) they have a thread mainly for blacklisted people not to trade with. This thread seems to be in the intent of a resource before purchasing an item from somebody. if they are in here then it is wise not to purchase from them because they have had a bad transaction or whatnot. NASIOC also has trader ratings but not all people leave trader feedback. granted they SHOULD but it doesnt happen. instead of just flaming the OP why not give it a shot and try it out and see what happens. If the moderators feel that this thread is unnecessary then they will indeed just close it out.

shame we need this type of thread really.

If we had an opposite thread, ie one to put the names of exceptional sellers in that would be good. I know who i would put in, wigseryc. I've bought from him and both times is has been a really good sale.

I checked the tracking information and it said that it was delivered and signed for AT MY ADDRESS.

So it sounded to me like it was left on my porch and stolen (that's what my mailman said he did...left it on the porch). So the shipper didn't pay for insurance, and he used MEDIA MAIL of all forms! So all in all, I'm out my $179 7600GT (not worth that at the time, but that's what I paid for it) and $20...and I got NOTHING from it.

And to top it all off....the mods told me to not leave a trader rating because the tracking information said that it was delivered, so for all they know I have it.

But evidentally MY WORD AS THE CUSTOMER isn't good enough!

That transaction ticked me off.

Another thing that ticks me off is when a seller gives you a set price, you have the money ready and waiting for him to tell you where to send it....then you find a thread for him selling the exact same item for more money....AND ITS SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE! With no PM notification of the change or nothing. For that one...I left a negative rating. I thought it was BS.
You have to understand that the Forum staff are in the middle of all this. OCN is used as a bridge between two members wishing to partake in a sale. OCN only serves as the bridge and because of that OCN cannot be held responsible for any sales that have gone wrong due to the fault of the members. Selling and buying is always at risk of the user. We of course look into all disputes and will help either user as much as we can. However this is far as we can go. We are primarily a TECH related forum that offers a Market place to our users which is managed as best as possible. Its always a shame when a sale goes wrong but I must stress that ALL transactions are done at your own risk and your assesment and trust of that user. OCN cannot Gaurentee successful sales. Like I said, we can provide support and assistance to sales gone wrong but ultimately this is all we can do.

In your case we had no proof that you DIDNT have the case. I am not for a second saying you have lied but you need to see it from our point of view. It would be great if we could take someones word for it but unfortunately that is not enough. PROOF counts for everything in this instance.

I completely understand where you're coming from . No worries. I obliged by what I was told to do by "The Duke" with any bad trades. And I understand that proof is what matters. Unfortunately in my particular case, there is no way to get proof. According to USPS, the package was signed for and delivered....but yeah it wasn't there. I know that its just my word vs. his word. And I also understand that our "word" just isn't good enough for proof. No worries at all .

My bad transactions that I've had here....it happens unfortunately. I don't even know if the "Case incedent" would really be the shipper's fault either. There's no possible way to tell at all at this point. And unfortunately that's the way things go sometimes . This sort of thing won't discourage me in the future....it just taught me a few lessons. That's all.

Everything here (to me) is a learning experience. That's the way it should be here at the forums. A learning and help place . When something goes wrong, I try my best to learn from it. I hold NO hard feelings towards ANY members who have given me a bad trade. Sometimes it's just not 100% their fault.
