Social Board - Overclock.net

Hey all,

I've been to a lot of message boards with a lot of topics (I'm kind of an e-wanderer), and one thing that I am missing on this one is a board for the sole purpose of socializing.

We have an everything else section, but it is still fairly structured (School Help, Art, Cars, etc).

Is there any way a section can be added just so posters can get to know each other? You know, a place where there is no such thing as off-topic (unless of course it is inappropriate). I always find that a section like this adds hugely to the appeal of a forum, because you get to know other posters personally.

So what does the rest of OCN think of this idea?

I think it would be a good idea on a forum named MeetOtherPeople.net.

It's right there at the top of the page labeled 'chat'. Get in there and gab your heart out.

The primary section under Everything Else is simply Off Topic, which is the best place for such things. You can dig down deeper to the subforums you mentioned for specific interests, but the parent forum is the catchall for everything else (that's appropriate, of course).

Ah! This makes things much easier. I had never thought of scrolling down past the list of subforums. Turns out there is a message board down there. :P

I do have to say that is one of the rudest things Ive read on this forum. We may specialize in computers and cases and modding, but a forum is a place where people with related intrests can get together and talk.
