Is the Razer Mamba really this bad?

I've been through 3 Mamba's first one pretty much it just fell apart after like 2 months, RMA'ed. happened again. Then Razer messed up and sent me 2 mice kits back. Thanks.

My "new" mamba now somewhat works, but it wont track for crap on my black desk, or my black desk pad.

Also the software is ****.

I finnaly got so pissed off i went and bought the CM Storm w/e its called (that tracks on everything, and the software ACTUALLY works).

Has anyone with a Mamba had similar problems?

Yes my friend and I have both had to RMA ours. His scroll wheel broke and my charging dock broke, both where less than a year old.

So it sounds like this thing just falls apart. Wonderfull. Isn't this Razer's "High end" mouse?

Got a Mamba about a year ago. It was too tall of a mouse for comfortable gaming (came from the Razer Krait) so its only purpose is to use on my torrent/media rig for when I am watching movies and TV shows in bed and I have never had any tracking issues with it whatsoever. I have only owned Logitech mice (only Logitech keyboards too) and have never had any tracking issues NOR HAVE I ever installed Logitech software for my mice/keyboards(except my G19). The Mamba has worked on every color clothing and every fabric material that has been on my bed (don't have black though).

And after holding it right now on my mousepad at my desk, I would have to say that besides the height of the unit, the other problem that I have with it is that it is too light for its size (if that makes sense). I mainly use the bundled mouse that came with the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave and that mouse is slightly smaller but slightly heavier than the Mamba so its size:weight ratio is what makes it comfortable for me.

EDIT: No problems with mine falling apart at all, it has even fell off the bed (onto carpet, but still) and been gently tossed a bit onto carpet.

the twin-eye sensors are notorious for tracking issues, especially on totally black surfaces. i have a Func F10s which is black but has speckles of grey in it as well. tracks no problem with both the RAT9 and the Mamba. i just picked up my mamba today and so far its smooth as butter. It came preloaded with the lastest firmware and i downloaded the software to check it out. works like a charm so far. i sure hope it doesnt fall apart lol.

If the Mamba is anything like the Copperhead used to be, then yes, it really is that bad. Went through 3 CH's in less than 5 months, due to failing sensor, and extremely poor tracking. I think it's pretty hit or miss with the Mamba though, cause a lot of people like it. I don't have a problem with Razer if their product works, but their reliability and customer service is really non-existent. I'll stick with my mx518 which has worked for me for about 4-5 years now, and buy the Mionix 5000 with my new build.

I had two mambas and they both tracked extremely poorly on black surfaces. As mentioned, the mouse is far too tall to use comfortably. It makes clicking difficult and puts the hand in an awkward position.

using a mamba since sept of last year. droped it 3 feet onto cermatic tile 3 times due to my mouse pad "slick surface". still working fine.

the wireless losses tracking every once in a while so i keep it wired (and it wont drop).

battery life lasts around 13 hours of daily usage.

no parts "falling off" or hardware failure that you speak of and i have dropped it 3 times...

Almost 2 years of use the only problem I had was squeaky mouse wheel that I easily fixed. I wish the battery lasted longer tho, I don't even use wireless mode cause I end up needing to plug it in before I finish what I am doing each day.

Mine has worked like a charm since day one. I've owned it for about two years now.
