I have tried everything to speed up my Windows share

Thread Starter
Hi, I am running windows server 2008 r2 and have a raid 5 array using a perc 5i card. I have a sub folder shared but when I want to copy files from the network I get speeds of ~1MB/s.

I have tried pretty much everything mentioned on this thread here and this makes it nearly impossible to stream HD movies.

Any help? Thanks.

So you checked your cables and tried a different one? Did you try turning on jumbo frames? Also it would help to know a little more about your infostructure what routers/switchs do you use what cables cat5/5e/6/fiber ect.. What hardware is in the computer running your server what hardware is running in the pc trying to access it ect..

According to "Arthur LI", he's full of %^&. Disabling autotuning limits your RWIN.

Here's some good info for TCP/IP settings.

Everything is wired with Cat5/Cat6 and an unmanaged netgear switch. It is using an AMD 785g although the onboard NIC is disabled and I am using 2 intel NICs.

I am trying to access it from my sig rig, a sandy bridge build, and also I don't know the speeds but I think it is also the cause of skipping when playing content on my WDTV live.

Go to your NIC card in Device Manager and make sure your Speed & Duplex setting is set to 100 Mbps Full Duplex

If it doesn't like that, you may have a faulty cable. Not saying that this is the problem, but I'm trying to walk you through the troubleshooting by the numbers.

Tried that aswell, I am pretty sure it is not the cable since this issue is on multiple machines/devices and it would be kind of impractical since this cable is 2 floors apart.

Tommorow I am going to try transfers through another protocol such as FTP and see if I have this issue.
