Decent budget build under 400$ (including OS) - Page 3

get an althon x2
cheap 880g mobo + 4g ram
cheap 1tb hdd
400w psu and cheap case with a dvd drive. the onboard gpus on the 880g are great for movies and things. you dont need a gpu for a htpc anymore the onboards in amd and sb can handle it fine. even this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-020-_-Product would be fine for a htpc XD

If you shop at NCIX and make use of pricematch you can get a pretty good deal, I'm a Canadian shopper at NCIX so I can help you with that - but it's going to have to be tomorrow. Since NCIX is canadian-based it'll likely be a lot better than Newegg.ca which charges a lot for shipping most of the time

i dont want to cheap him out too much, i promised that i could build him a better performing computer if i built it for him, rather than letting him buy it pre built.

Hey since you have a wide knowledge of motherboards, what would be the cheapest, yet safest mobo with OC capabilities?
if i could get him a cheaper cpu and OC it, i may save some bank.

i dont have much experience with ncix, ill check them out more thoroughly tomorow. kinda ran a late nighter at the gym today and i need to catch some zzzs for work
