Crashing when using 3D application?

Hello,
Lately I have been experiencing something rather unusual. When I try to play my games, my computer freezes on me and will reboot itself. Using software I have to read the .dmp file, the error was traced to my video card. My video card has been overclocked and was working fine for a while up until now. I reset the speeds back to default factory configuration, but my PC still kept crashing after 10-12 seconds when I would try to run a stability test. Can anyone help me?
Thanks!
P.S. I am not sure if this has any significance, but today I also was maintaining my PC, and when I tried to take out my CPU cooler, my CPU came out with it even though the socket was still set to lock mode. It works fine right now, but perhaps this might have anything to do with my dilemma?

I would highly suggest getting the latest drivers. Any particular 3D apps/games? Cause BC2 crashes on a lot of setups.

Well, when I had the problem it would happen to any 3D application I tried, including MSI Kombustor, Steam games, etc. I recently took out the video card, then I put it back in. After doing that it seems everything is working fine again. But thanks for responding!
