Setting Ram to run at 1600mhz, question

I have Corsair XMS 1600mhz ram but CPU-z says it is running at 668mhz so that is 1333 or so I think. Also command rate is 1T not 2 T like some peoples I have seen. With the new Asus bios interface what is the best way to fix this? Do I just go in and select the memory to run 1600mhz in the drop down box or do I need to manually set it up which I am not sure how to do. If I do that then it overclocks the entire system to 4.3ghz in turbo mode, and DRAM goes to 1.65v which I was told is the max for these CPU's

Interesting question. How does Turbo mode work on your system? Does it raise CPU multi or ref clock?

RAM lowered to 1333 shouldn't have any performance impact, because 1333 performancewise is very similar to 1600, +lowering to 1333 lowers latencies too, so it should be performing about the same as stock.

My best bet would be that RAM is lowered, because in Turbo mode it raises ref clocl, which could cause instabilities if RAM was initially @stock.

I don't know, however.

Good to know. I am not sure but I think it uses multi. I have seen a multiplier of 16 but not sure if that answers your question properly. Everything is set to Auto in the BIOS pretty much so I dont see other specific volts for much in there. All I know is if I select 1600mhz in the AI tweaker menu in the bios it will OC the entire system to 4.3GHz under turbo mode. Once I did that I restarted adn then went back in the BIOS and saw that it actually cranked it to 1648mhz RAM and the DRAM was at 1.65v and colored yeloow which I know is not great. I then ran the machine in windows and did some surfing and didnt get any errors.

I decided to reset it all back to stock levels though.

One thing I did notice is that my CPU was idling at 42-43 degrees. It is liquid cooled and the fans were all on max rpm. I did se that the Mobo is controlling or reading rpm on 2 of the lower case fans only and CPU fan even though it is liquid cooled. All three case fans are set to high and the front fan wont go over 860rpm and the middle one pegs at 1260rpm which is the 3 fans max speed.
