No disrespect but considering a single 6950 costs slightly less than half of a GTX 580, their value vs performance ratio is considerably higher. If you're lucky enough to get reference models then thats just icing on the cake with a cherry on top.

EDIT: but 580s in sli would outperform 6950s in crossfire... i don't know what the person that said otherwise is thinking... (IN most games)
I agree.

@ Op - just to get some perspective, how much are you willing to fork out?

That's fine! I was just saying what I decided to do when I was at this point in my computer making process. My previous setup had crossfire 5850's, and I loved them. I'm not a fanboy. The 580 is more expensive. It's a great card. Crossfire 6950's will beat it. It will beat Crossfire 6950's if it's SLI'ed.

If I was at that point again, and had less money then I did when I was making mine, I would have done Crossfire 6950.

Remember, Anandtech only clocks the i7 @ 3.3 GHz. An overclock to ~4.0 GHz will show more gains in CF/SLI.

That varies from person to person. I can afford it, so it's worth it to me. Like I said earlier, I'm not slamming Radeon, I had crossfire 5850's. GREAT cards. GREAT performance. If I was strapped, I'd have went the xfire 6950 path.

But I have money. So I pay for the extra performance.

My budget is around AUD$ 750 so 2x6950 and gtx 580
2x 6950 seems more worth the money than getting 1 gtx 580 and save up and sli later.
And i was thinking should i chip in another $200 to get 6990 instead??
