I'm actually from a village, but nearest place is Bassett or Swindon.

Been through there twice but haven't had a chance to stop and enjoy much of the scenery.

I've done quite a bit of running around since coming here though. Landed on the 28th of December, drove to Liverpool and back for the LFC v. Wolves match on the 29th, went to Wales for the Swansea v. Leyton Orient FA Cup match, London twice for the Leyton Orient v. Arsenal match and the replay at the Emirates, went to Stonehenge a few weeks ago and been down to Canterbury twice.

Beautiful country this. thumb.gif

Yea, it's nice indeed. Swindon town is a bit of a dump though. I'll have to go see them play in League 2 next year as we got relegated this year

If you like driving, there are some really good roads around Wiltshire as well. A lot of people do the Swindon, Marlborough, Devizes triangle which goes over the ridgeway. It's very popular with bikers and you'll see them stopped at the Red Lion in Avebury. Worth it if you like driving.

Yeah, you can blame me for that. They've won twice since I got here... Sorry about that.

Welcome to OCN (and our fine country).

Seriously though, North > South!
You have to come visit my way (the lake district), it sounds like you would like it very much, it's a beautiful place and quite different to the rest of the country.

Cheers. If there's trout or salmon fishing involved, I'm down for it.

Just waiting on my immigration interview (Yes, I'm doing it the right way ) and then I'll be free to get a job and then I can start really going out and enjoying my new home.

I've got quite a few friends I've known for years from over here that just call me Yank, even though I'm definitely a country kid to the core.

In all honesty anything that doesn't involve handling feces/vomit or driving to deliver, the roads are waaaaay too small over here for me. I can pretty much do anything though. Was a Wal-Mart manager back home for a few years, have tons of computer experience, don't mind manual labor, can operate forklifts, tractors, cranes, dozers etc... Can even raise pigs if it comes down to it, Grandad raised livestock when I was a kid. Put a task in front of me and I'll handle it. Just can't deal with feces/vomit. lol Odd that I can't deal with that but have butchered tons of deer...

If the money is there I very well might be interested, just dunno about the wife. She's from England and lived in Leyton for years and years, says she's not that interested in going back to London and in all honesty I don't know if I can deal with the crowds and overall busyness of being in one of the biggest cities in the world.

Good thing about it though, we are living with her brother for now, we haven't fully settled and bought a place. I'll definitely let you know if/when I get my work permit, I might have to look around and see what London has to offer.
