Project Cafe (Wii 2) .. What do you think?

So its a known fact that this year @ E3 Nintendo is going to be announcing and showcasing their new Console to the masses.

As expected.. the Nintendo Wii might get a Price Drop next week to $150 Most likely to make room for their New Console...
(Refer to the Image in the first post..) And just like the previous Console were released shortly after their latest Handhelds...

Some Articles from IGN .. apparently the controller is to have a 6inch screen built into it.

Another article from IGN showing their mockup of how the controller might look.

Wii2 Rumor article and what it means to Zelda: Skyward Sword

Personal thoughts:

I think they might try to go for the Hardcore gaming market that PS3 and Xbox360 has their hands on, but i personally do not seeing them have much success at it.

I know they will eventually still have great success at the family market of gaming with their party style games.

What do you all think?

Well, the first Wii was totally not something that impressed me, I don't like the gimmick of motion controls, (except Kinect, IF they make it more responsive). The game library was way too childish, very few games to compete with the other consoles. Now, if the second console kicks it up a notch, I might actually get onto it.

Personally, I can't wait for the NGP.

i completely agree with you .. only reason i ever owned the nintendo consoles were for my two favorite games (Mario and Zelda) which we know will never really make it to ps3 or xbox.

That being said i hope they do leave the childish game era and make their game library a bit more mature, while i dont mind it having a childish section but i would also love to have my golden eye type games to play.

I never really enjoyed the Mario or Zelda series (Except A Link To The Past, what an awesome game.) but they are definitely good. But I think Nintendo grasps onto those two franchises way too much. Don't get me wrong, let them make as many of those as they like, but bring some fresh ideas too.

Theres some games that they had back on the N64 that havent even made it back into their updated library .. like Star Fox, oh how much i will give for a new HD star fox game >_< .. while i do agree that Zelda and Mario are a bit played out i still own my N64 and play Mario64 and Zelda: OCT & Majoras Mask to death. Who can forget Golden Eye as well >_> Sometimes after watching some game or movie at my house my friends that are over we still have it a go on Golden Eye.

They better step it up with the hardware. Nintendo's all like intractability this, revolutionary that. Doesn't Nintendo see that their console has been swept under peoples carpets due to poor graphics and technology that is already behind when compared to the PS3/Xbox 360?

I think they need to have more games through digital distribution than CDs with their next console, because nobody wants another disc format war.

Don't think I'd buy it anyway though. Last Nintendo console I bought was a Gamecube, and that was purely for Resident Evil remake, 0, 4 and Eternal Darkness, that's it.

Hopefully they try and regain their cred with the "gamer" folk and put soccer moms and baby sitters on the sidelines for awhile. No reason now why they can't, got the beefier hardware for the AAA titles, and still have their waggle stick to sell shovelware "party" games with. We'll see, for some reason I'd love to give my money to tendo over sony or microsoft, they got their grubby hooks into everything.

From what it sounds like from many other sites, that this console might have jumped on the BluRay format. Which in a given would also mean 1080p gaming (hopefully)

I personally wont be buying the console or holding my breathe for it unless they have some sort of sequel to Star Fox and some other great games at launch ..

If Skyward Sword makes it to Wii2 ill definitely be buying it, although after seeing what you would do with the Wiimote for Skyward i highly doubt they will do that on the Wii 2 seeing as how speculation leads to no motion controls for the new console.

Christ, I certainly hope not. That's gonna raise the price of it substantially, and it will be even worse if it can play Blu-ray movies as well because people will have to pay for this extra licensing crap (most of whom have PS3s/HTPCs for this, and will never use this on a Wii 2).
