How's my overclock?

Thread Starter
Hi all, just finished my new build with an i5-2500k, and I think I have a pretty good overclock on it, but I thought I would submit what I have done to make sure everything is safe seeing as how this is only my second overclock and my first on a Sandy Bridge. I am running at 4.6 GHz with a CPU-Z reported voltage of 1.272v. Voltage in BIOS is on auto with a negative offset of 0.04 to bring the volts down a bit to keep temps down. LLC is set to high. This has proved to be stable so far, running a full 24hr test now. Temps under Prime load no more than 63, hit 64 briefly yesterday running OCCT Linpack. So from what I have read these all sound like acceptable numbers, I just wanted to confirm that with people that have done this a lot more often than I have! Thanks.

You have great temps at that load, and a very nice vcore! Great job on your OC.

Thanks, temps are averaging around 63-64 on my 2 warmest cores during my extended prime test, hitting 65 on very rare instances. I'm still happy with that. I am thinking I could probably go higher given where my voltage and temps are, but would I really gain much by trying to go higher? I want to hang on to this chip for a while, so I don't want to push it to hard.

What you want to gain? The CPU is more than enough to support the GPU.
I would say the GPU is "bottlenecking" the CPU (it`s just slower)
Maybe time to add another 460
