Critique my water cooling shopping list

Thread Starter

Plan: Build a liquid cooling loop that would give me manageable temps in the summer, and help my crossfire configuration remain cool

Shopping list (all items include applicable taxes):
-Antec 1200 $180
-XSPC Rasa 750 RX240 Kit (incl. CPU block, 240 rad, res/pump) $170
-XSPC Universal GPU Water Block $55
-Ramsinks $17
-Distilled H2O $5
-Feser Anti-corrosion Additive $9
-15 feet UV reactive Primochill tubing 7/16" ID with anti-growth coating $34
-UV Cathodes $10
-

$16

Subtotal $496
Shipping (estimate) $30

Grand total (estimate) $526

And hopefully I can sell my current case to lower my net expense

Look good?
Are there are changes I should make so I can spend a little less?

You are only buying 1 gpu water block? You said crossfire?

With that setup you should be fine with 1 gpu block but no overclocking !!

If you want to OC I recommend a 240 rad minimum just for that i7 cpu.

For the case you might wanna look at a HAF 932/x over the 1200 its has better cable management from what I hear and you can fit a nice 360 rad in the top which should cool your system decently although I would recommend another 120/240 for good temps.

I would also go with the rx360 kit over the 240. A 240 will limit your ocs if your ambients are hot. I would kick the anti-corrosive crap. Grab a silver kill coil or pt nuke. Ditch the 5$ water the 1-2$ stuff at your local grocery store that is distilled is just as good.

Back to the rads. A 240 is typically a cpu only setup otherwise you have yourself an expensive h50/70. The 360 rads are normally for cpu and 1 gpu or dual gpu cards. The 480s are typically cpu and cfx or sli setups. Otherwise your temps can get kinda warm.

get rid of that Antec POS. For that money, you can buy much better.

please burn the antec case. now.

air cooling? fine.

with wc? destroy it. i dont even want to see it on anyone's list...especially for 180 bucks

grab rx360 kit.

i also believe the 5850 comes default with a unisink

17 bucks for tim? get mx2 or something. at that price, shin etsu isnt worth it

where r your fittings?

Get rid of the additive and pick a different case. The antec 1200 sucks for watercooling. It was a job and a half trying to outfit my friend's 1200 with radiators (to keep them internal).

As mentioned above, amazon has the best pricing on primoflex tubing.

The 240 rad won't be enough for your CPU + a GPU. I'd recommend the 360RX rasa kit and going with a larger case that will accommodate a 360 rad up top, such as the HAF X or Corsair 800D.

+1 about dropping the antec 1200

also do you prefer mid-size or full size cases?

try to stick to cooler master or corsair for case choices unless your going more advanced
