Get a 2500k and be done with it in my opinion.

While a C2Q would definitely help, I would also recommend just going to P67. I think it would be a waste to spend ~$250 for a C2Q when you can spend ~$450 and get a decent P67 system which would run circles around the C2Q.

I'm also wondering if your E8500 is overclocked? I went from an E8500 at 3.8GHz to a Q9550 at 3.2GHz and could dramatically tell a difference. Something isn't right if you lost performance when going from a C2D to a quad unless the dual core was highly overclocked.

I'm noticing some struggling through BFBC2 + CRYSIS 2...

CPU or GPU bottleneck?
I think your system is good the way it is personally... Like Defoler mentioned, I say do it all in a big package as the system seems like a generation old to get it done the right way...
