[VE3D] Top Grossing Games on Steam For Q1 2011 - Page 3

This is all guesswork since Valve hasn't released these figures. Pretty weird that someone would release this as if they had real figures.

Steams tops seller list might, but there would be no reason for this list to.

Since when does Valve release numbers?

They used to release top 10 games weekly, but not anymore. I won't trust this.

Look at the sales of games that actually require a PC with decent hardware, now compare those sales to sales of the same game on consoles. Yup. Magicka isn't a good gauge of whether or not PC gaming is doing well. All those light games that run well on pretty much any PC and people can just jump right into sell well.

Magicka doesn't run at all on integrated graphics, and is only available on PC. It's the perfect game to see how well PC gaming is doing.

The success of Magicka sales shows you don't have to charge $60 to make revenue. Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 weren't that far ahead in total revenue compared to Magicka, and Magicka was only $10.

Developers are losing out on customers like me who refuse to pay $50+ for a game; I'll gladly wait a few months and buy the game for much cheaper.

Why would Valve have to release their numbers to get these charts? Steam keeps track of it own sell numbers.

But Crysis 2 and DA 2 were released on consoles where they sold ten times the number of copies, while making big budget games aren't necessary to earn a profit it's clearly those games that earn the most.

they also cost millions of dollars to make, lik 30-40 and then you have the huge multi million dollar marketing campaign to go along with it.

Im willing to bet the guys who made magicka make more than the devs who made dragon age 2.

you also missed that the top seller is PC only also, and this is just 1 retailer, and not even the biggest.

I cant imagine these numbers are accurate. STEAM/Valve have to this point not released sales figures from what I have read recently, so how can they have numbers on STEAM sales is beyond me unless it was leaked.
